WA Solar Water Heater Subsidy Scheme

The Government of Western Australia through the Office of Energy is offering rebates to householders who install environmentally friendly gas-boosted solar water heaters with the scheme extended until 30 June 2013.

Rebates Available:

• $500 for natural gas-boosted solar water heaters

• $700 for bottled LPG-boosted solar water heaters (used in areas without reticulated gas)

Gas-boosted solar water heaters have the lowest greenhouse gas emissions and running costs of all common, residential hot water systems.

Key Eligibility Criteria:

• Rebates are available for new, gas-boosted solar water heaters that are accredited to Australian Standard AS2712 with a minimum of 2.7m2 collector area and a 250 litre or larger tank

• Solar water heaters must be used for private residential purposes (excepting display homes and residential developments where special conditions apply)

• Rebates for installations in new homes must be pre-approved through a formal online pre-approval process.

• Solar water heaters must be purchased and installed within the 12 months prior to a rebate application being received by the Office of Energy.
